Mystikal Surprises Orlando Crowd During First Post-Prison Performance

Rapper Mystikal has returned to the stage two months after he was released from prison. The Louisiana native made a surprise appearance on Saturday night, April 27 at the Funk Fest in Orlando, much to everyone's delight as the crowd went wild after he hit the stage.

In a fan-captured video, Doug E. Fresh was the one who introduced Mystikal on the stage before the latter launched into several of his throwback hits, including "Move B***h" and "Shake Ya A**". Following the performance, the rapper thanked fans for the love and supported and reflected on his long road back to the top.

Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, turned himself into the Caddo Parish Sherrif's Department in August 2017 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was indicted of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. Having been in custody for nearly a year and a half, the rapper was released in February of this year on a $3 million bond.

In a statement that was posted after his release, Mystikal said that he was pleased to be out. "It's a test of faith, you know, walk of faith," he said. "Sometimes you have to open up the circumstances and it'll be a walk of faith. This thing here, it could be a tomb where you're sitting in there deteriorating or it could be a cocoon where you can come out of that thing. I don't want to say a butterfly, but you could be a hero when you come out of there."

On the other hand, his attorney, Joel Pearce, said that Mystikal's trial is scheduled for May and that he looked forward to clearing his client's name. He said that his team had enough evidence to proof that Mystikal did not commit the alleged crimes.
